Heres what i got done inside the house tonight while it rained outside again. After reading all the wiring manuals and directions for both interfaces and the headunit, i figured out what i was going to do. Install the headunit and use its internal amp for now to power the stock speakers, but it'll only has 4 channels and the truck has 6 speakers. So ill just be running front doors and dash speakers but im setting the 80prs to network mode so i can mess with the cross overs a lil bit and learn how to use it while im workin on a amp bracket and setting up the wiring (power/speaker/rca).

Removed most of the tape from the axxess harness so i could line everything up the way i wanted and cut the wires to equal lengths so its more uniform when its done. First I soldered and heatshrinked the ground(blk)/constant12v(yel)/accesory switched12v(red)/illumination(org).

Then it was onto the speaker leads..... So since i was using Network mode WITH the internal amp the colors switched up, thats why it doesnt color match. Took extra care to triple cross check and reread things to be sure i used the right wires. Axxess manual uses normal words like "right front negative speaker, left rear positive speaker". 80prs manual uses "high range right (-), mid range left (+)", lol i was reading out loud to myself to be sure i get it right.

Here they are heat shrink ready and twisted together before soldering.

Used a peice of card board to isolate the wires pair by pair so I dont damage other wires while soldering. Hows the joint look? Decent?9587CCD2-62F2-4F99-A5DB-6B58FC59B527.thumb.jpeg.ea7e35ad78729744bc04a3d7655220ca.jpeg

All soldered up. I picked up this new smaller pen style soldering iron today and some extra tips. Much easier to work with than the soldering gun. Also i finally figured out how to make use of tinning the tip of the iron lol. It almost instantly gets the joint to wick all the solder in. I was much happier with the way these joints turned out than any of my others. What do ya'll think of the joints? Is the discolored parts normal? The kinna dark yellowish stuff. Im guessing thats flux or rosin?7F6DD233-7218-4A41-AA55-5D91249A9832.thumb.jpeg.10a8391a9df2912d52c16a119e9bdf6d.jpeg

After heat shrinking all the speaker wires i was trying to think of what i could do with these extra wires that im not using at the moment but might need later. Didnt have crimp caps so i just used forked crimp connectors and put a peice of heat shrink over that connector. First i striped and twisted togther all three navigation type wires (parking brake/reverse/speed sense) and stuck that into a single connector and crimped it. Then i did the same thing with two of the three remote wires. The third remote wire went into its own connector because it wasnt long enough to reach the other two remote wires easily. Becuase the smallest connectorsi had was 14-16awg, i had to strip the wire then fold the bare wire onto its own bare wire and stick that into the connector and crimped it.

Then to isolate the unused RCAS from oneanother, i used some of my custom heat shrink. Didnt want to get any sticky tape residue on the pin/shielding of the rcas (i know tesa interior fuzzy tape doesnt leave much residue but still)

Good stuff man. Solder looks fine.

Hey i routed the wires for my metra harness and taped it all up... then realized it didnt fit behind my headunit (the way i had zip tied it up) due to space constraints. You may wanna slip it into the dash before you 100% finish it to make sure it fits.

Anyway, looking good man.

Then to secure the RCAs to the harness so they dont flap around in the dash, I used one of my custom heatshrinks for my 4/0 cables and bundled up RCAs to the harness.

All my custom heat shrink is double sided, polynesian pattern on one side (im hawaiian) and a cool lil native american skull and feather headdress on the other(im also native). All white tubes, but got the design printed in black ink pieces and also got it in red ink peices, non adhesive lined tho. They cant apply the print if they use the adhesive lined tubes.

Then wraped it all up in fuzzy tesa tape, leaving some parts easier to remove from the bundle if need be later.

Thanks for the headsup. I noticed that too the this bundles pretty big and has two modules. Almost sent it back and got a pac but didnt wanna wait for shipping again and all that so just went with it. The space behind the Rams bezel is pretty spacous i think ill have room. Imma use some velcro patches to secure those square modules back there, i wont be using zipties. Really hoping its sunny tomorrow so i can switch out the headunit.
