so i recently acquired my SSD  (no options just copper coils)....my surround looks different then the SSD on their website...did i get a free upgrade or downgrade.  My surround looks similar to the alpha and neo ssd... not the one shown on their website.  Or am i just an idiot? website surround seems fatter and mine is more narrow and tall

They do change suppliers from time to time as i experienced when ordered 2 FI SP4's one summer, and identical ones the next and they came with noticeable different surrounds and it was because they switched cone/surround supplier.

understandable....but does it change the specs? xmax, linear control ect... maybe i just need to give it some more time for the suspension to loosen up...but so far not really impressed, been out of the audio game a while but had the first gen DC level 3 on clean 1200 rms (2000 cougar) about 10 years ago and that bastard slammed clean and hard...running this SSD in my 09 grand cherokee (i know alot of different variables)... maybe im just goin deaf

Doesn't change the specs.  It's like having two completely different cars with the same 0-60 time.  Different motors, colors, bodies, etc.  same "specs".  Anyway, yea it feels like false advertising at first but it is what it is.  great company, love their subs.  =)
