Proper sized fusing on 0 gauge + 0 to 4 distro block

Recommended Posts

I am going to add a monoblock amp, around 2kw RMS, as to have two amps going...the 5 channel rockville and the new 2kw monoblock (undecided)...and add another 12" sub.  I will be replacing the 4ga run from the distro block (right next to the front battery) with a 0 gauge run and moving the distro block to the trunk near the second battery.  The distro block has 4 mini-ANL fuse channels.

What I am unsure of is what size fuse should I use for the 0 gauge run, and should I use two fuses (one at front battery and another right before the distro block.)  If I am running a 1400 watt RMS 5 channel amp and a 2kw monoblock, should I use an approximately 350 amp fuse on the 0 gauge?  Also, should I run the 0 gauge to the second battery first, before the distro block, or should I use a 4 gauge circuit from the distro block for the second battery?

Just now, Crazy 8s Drums said:

Currently 4 gauge OFC.  I might use CCA 0 gauge, but could go with OFC if it justified the price.

I'm using 300 amp fuses for my 1/0 sky high but it could take up to 325.

Depending on the CCA you get it would be around 250 amps.
