baller95
So I’m looking into doing a huge upgrade next year from my current 2 10s to either 6 12s or 4 18s. According to manufacturer specs (Skar ZVX V2) the 6 12s require slightly less box and port volume than the 4 18s. The 6 12s will be running on 9000 wrms whereas the 4 18s will be running 6000 wrms. So my question is, which will sound better and be louder? Thanks!
Joe X
It would be much more expensive to run the 6 12s than the 4 18s and still the 4 18s have significantly more cone area. 3060 vs 4656 cm2 (assuming you will pick Skar ZVX V2 of either size). Yes the 12s and 18s will both be from the ZVX V2 line. Will the extra cone area make up for the 3000 less watts?

Hellbilly429
Personally, if this were my situation, I would go with 4 18s. More SD, higher sensitivity, and just badass to look back and see monster sized subs. That, and it sounds like it would be the cheaper route, which would strongly persuade me to go this route. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
Masterbasser
4 18s, if you got room for 4 18s why not try 8 12s or 6 or 8 15s? DiBo
8-12s... 6-15's...4-18s... #loudAF!! I'm personally going with 4-15s on 10k in a 4th. 6-15s if it would've fit C pillar.
baller95
Thanks guys, looks like I’ll be going with 4 18s! For some reason I thought the cone area is the same for both setups but I was wrong. I’m just gonna try pushing the 4 18s at 10k rms and being conservative with the gain even though each sub is rated for 1500 wrms lol
