bmwking
hey all, time for me to get around to making something for that custom sub i built a few months back. i couldnt get any reliable DATS readings off it so i'm just gonna wing it and make a box between the needs for a meso 10 and a 12. which puts it at 1.375 cu ft i cant get optimal port area in torres at tuning for some reason. If anyone could come up with a quick dimensions list for a 1.375 cu ft ported box (mid/low 30s tuning is fine, whatever is easiest), that'd be super helpful! oh and the sub displaces about 0.15 cu ft by my estimate. will be putting it on 1800w rms thanks guys! Hellbilly429
What are your max dimensions? Tuning low with that small of a box and the port area you require is going to be extremely difficult. From what I can guestimate (CT doesn't list all T/S specs for the Meso 12) it looks like this sub will do well around 32hz to keep it from being too peaky. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log

Hellbilly429
Really hard to get an accurate reading from WINISD since I'm missing parameters for the sub, but it looks like it should be fine with a 35hz tuning at 1.33 net, getting you port area of 33 (min. is 26 according to Triticum's calculator, and optimal is 35.) WINISD is graphing that with 1800 watts applied, your port velocity should be below 24 m/s. Definitely use subsonic filter at 25-28hz to not exceed excursion limits at lower frequencies. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
bmwking
Awesome man, thanks for your help! I thought such a narrow port would raise the velocity. This is when I like being wrong haha
Hellbilly429
It's the port area that matters, not the dimensions of the port. I would not go over a port ratio of 10:1 as efficiency starts to go down.
Hellbilly429
Following Triticum's port calculator, and it lists optimum port area to be 35 inches squared for a 1.3 ft^3 box with 1800 watts applied to it. Edit: misunderstood both of your comments, sorry guys! Port ratio of 1:1 is ideal, but I do not think the port ratio of 1:8 will hurt him. Do you want me to re-calculate with a square port instead of a slot to be safe? 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log

Hellbilly429
Agreed.
