Mike Shea
I have a 06 F250 6.0, (1) Mechman Elite 370a, (1) Mechman G Series 240a, (2) XS D6500 under the hood, (4) XS D3100 in the bed, (2) Mosconi Zero4, (1) Mosconi Zero3 I just sent the alternators back to Mechman and had them changed to self-exciting, also had the 370a charge post switched from a rear post to top post. I re-installed the alternators yesterday and after 1hr of beating on the system my passenger side D6500 started to swell like a balloon. I triple checked all of my connections and do not have any wires crossed, it was hot as hell where I live yesterday. The SMD volt meter was sitting at 14.4~14.6vdc while the truck was running so I dont believe it was overvoltage from the alternator. From what I read ambient temperature under the hood can cause this, but I have driven the truck for 2.5yr now with no problems. Any ideas? I have the system wired the following way using KnuKoncepts OFC 1/0:
