Bandpass for 8" woofer?

Recommended Posts

Anybody with results on a 4th/6th order bandpass with 1 8"? Thinking about the possibility of a DD 1508 or 2508 ESP vs 3 608's. 4th or 6th order bandpass for the single 1508 or 2508 and probably conventional slot or aeroport for the 2-3 608's. Would like to throw 6-700 rms on each 608 that route, unsure on power for a bandpass (1500 rms maybe?). Any feedback? Which would be louder and be able to hit lower in mid to low 30's? Hip hop/ decaf music is what I like. I want to stay in the range of $500 max on sub(s). My MAX dimensions are 36" Long, 10" Wide, 15-20" tall. Vehicle is a 1996 C1500 single cab so center console box with either design. Most likely going with matching DD amp as well with proper electrical for 14 volts.

I know this is a center console box, but the gross volume you have available is enough for a single ported 12" or possible a pair of ported 10"s.  If there is anyway you can make either of those options work you will be way ahead.   A ported 12" will stomp all over any 8" bandpass box or three 6" ported subs.  Subs smaller than 10"s are for when you absolutely can't fit anything bigger.

cant speak for an x series but know if have seen sa8's and 1508's  in 6th orders. Cant speak for the performance in doing so, just saying I have seen it done in both models. Also by memory and this was years back, I though the 2500 series when modeled suited 4th orders much better than 6th order?  I remember it doing so well in 4th orders that a shop partnered with dd to model 4ths so they could basically sell a prefab 4th order box with 2500 series loaded in them.

Anyone feel free to chime in on a possibility of running a 12" versus 2-3 8's.. Just don't seem have the same room for center console as I did with my 2006 single cab. If I don't have the room I'll probably go with 2 sundown X8's since they're in my RMS goal and seem to get down pretty good. I'm not chasing numbers but being able to shake some stuff would be cool ?

A couple of x8 (red plot) on 750 each will  theoretically match a single X12v1 (orange plot) on the same 750W power.

Box specs of the above comparison would be 1.75 @ 32, 1.5 @ 32 for the two x8s so pretty close box size wise.

I think the two X8s would be a good match for the results you are looking to get, the small cabin size will boost that low end even further.
