Subwoofer ideas?

Ok so looks like my guess were pretty close then being tuned to 33 you should be able to play down to 25hz or so with a decently built enclosure.

Low pass filter at 40hz is a bit too low, usually 60-70hz is ideal for those, otherwise your loosing out on a lot of higher frequencies that is left for your midrange to pick up the slack on if they can. Granted it being set that low wont hinder playing lower than what its set too, the LPF just filters out frequencies above its setting.

What does your woofer do when your trying to play lower, like how does it act?

What you are describing sounds like you are trying to play too much below your tuning frequency and the sub is unloading.

If you can, I'd suggest you verify your tuning frequency just to make sure its where you think it is.  You can do this by playing sine wave tones a moderate volume.  Watch/lightly feel the cone.  You are looking for the frequency where cone movement is the least, it will almost stop.  That frequency in your tuning frequency.

I will fix it in the morning. It acts as though it is trying to play low but it sounds horrible. Like it will basically just move around before actually hitting some decent sound.

Going by your specs:

Double layer baffle

External Height = 19 in
External Width = 35 in
External Depth = 24 in

Port Width = 4 in

Port Length = 18 in, Port Area = 90 square inches

Fb = 37.8 Hz
Vb = 6.1 ft^3

Looking at that high tuning that would be enough to explain your problems. So your port is really about 18L? in that case your port doesn't turn. check that please.

Port turns on the inside.

So your port is longer that 18L then, if you can measure the length of the port after it turns and it's about 13 1/2" then you are tuned to 33Hz and your net volume would be 5.2 net. From there you can test building an external port extension to lower tuning and see if that helps.
