Rockford Fosgate T212D4 enclosure or sub issue?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I’ve got this subwoofer installed on a ported box. The problem is that the low frequencies bass is not hitting hard...to make a difference, I will give 2 different songs: Chase & Status - NRG ft. Novelist and Shahmen - Mark;

NRG’s bass is really heavy hitting but Mark’s bass is really quieter and this song is not the only one that plays quieter, there are more...ex: Young Jeezy - Put on and Akon - I wanna love you; the bass is quiet, looking like it is a 250w RMS subwoofer...really annoying.

LPF from HU is turned off, I’m using the amp’s LPF maxed at 200Hz (MTX XThunder X1000D)

Subsonic filter is cranked a little bit, not much at all.

It could be a damaged subwoofer or bad enclosure? I will write here the enclosure specs.

Don't have the port dimensions but if the guy says it's tuned to 37Hz then let's say he is right, that tuning is not ideal for Jeezy stuff and such at least on a regular size vehicle, 32Hz would be much more adequate, such large port area makes hard a lower tuning and increases box size, I would recommend  building a different box, it would be best if you post what's your vehicle but about 30-32Hz would be adequate for your application.

Port width is 4.7”, I’m from Europe (Romania) so I have a Ford Focus 2 sedan (I uploaded a pic).

I don’t know if I measured properly but I will write down in inches, so:

Width - 4.7” / height - 12” / depth - 17.5”

So a bigger enclosure with a smaller port will do it?

So here's something I'm sure will get you better results, box dimensions are similar to those of your current box but you need to check.

Power: to sub rated, amp subsonic filter to 26Hz, minimum port clearance 8 cm, figure is just an assembly guide:

NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside.

Thank you, mate! I will try this enclosure. Hope it’ll do it.

One question: low freq. bass takes much more voltage/amperage? Cause when lows are hitting my headlights are dimming...so it means I don’t have enough power. I planned to get another battery anyway so I hope it will do the trick...

Yes lower frequencies take more power for the same volume.

I would recommend a deep cycle battery and also possibly an alternator. The alternator is what is powering your vehicle when the car is running.
