His radio probably has a rear/sub pre out. Look in the settings on the radio and change preout from sub, to rear. Then you will get a full range signal. Then go to the amp and set the crossovers appropriately.

Use rear rear and then crossover settings to cut the frequencies above 80 hz or whatever you prefer on the sub.
