Alternator amp size?

Recommended Posts

Have LEDs for headlights already, but like I said it's a cheap volt meter, don't trust it. Wipers will slow and all lights will dim, an " man ur shit hits HARD cause it skips ur Bluetooth music " lmao...I know I'm low volting pretty good when it stutters my Bluetooth from my phone. Stock alt was in there before, it failed and I took a chance on a eBay one. Gonna grab a 140a one from a police 5.7l and see if it helps any. Guess it's time to save for a real alt.

2009 Silverado 1500, 7.5" lift, 37x12.50r17s, Built Gen 4 5.3L ( 4.8l flat pistons, decked 243s, SS2 Cam, Pac 1218 springs, ported intake, 120mm TB, Long tubes, 3" duals HP tuner software tuned by me), 4l80e swapped and 4.56 gears. All done by me. stereo is Pioneer avh 600ex, all stinger rca, jp23 v1.5, skar rp150.4, and hertz hpd4. 2 SHCA 6.5 8ohm, 1 SHCA 3.5", and 1 DS18 tw120pro in each door. Put a 140a from an 04 Tahoe and almost eliminated voltage drop ( along with a bad battery to chassis ground) volts don't drop more than .3 volts so I'm calling bs and am.gonna tear my stuff out this weekend to add a new amp rack so I'll be putting a volt meter on my battery bank and inspect wiring while I'm there.

nice problem solving there!  luckily you have a late 90s GM.  you are going to have the most options of where to buy and what to spend when it comes to a big boy alt (240 amps +).  TONS of people make em, just uh... ask here before buying from ebay again lol (or google the brand name, and if it doesnt have a brand name...dont buy it) :)

Singer and mechman have been around even back when I was waaay deeper into stereo stuff,  I KNEW better than get an eBay alternator but figured I'd throw some money away, u know cause I really couldn't have used that extra Cash for a new ab hd15 or anything.
