How do I wire a auxiliary battery in a 2018 chevrolet express

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find how to properly wire both the big 3 and an auxiliary battery on a 2018 Chevrolet Express with the RVC alternator system.

I have a Cole Hearse smart battery isolator and 2/0 cabling. My question really is do I need to run the ground cable for the second battery back through the GM clamp meter near the factory battery?

Or do I just have to run my head lights all the time to keep the alternator from dropping voltage?

Thanks for any help.

@WalledSonic and @ToNasty i believe may be able to offer some assistance, as they both have newer GM vehicles with the current sensor.

Put as many grounds you want and they dont have to all go thru the current sensor.  CES (facebook) makes a bypass module.  I bought it but havent installed it yet.  I highly recommend a self-exciting regulator on your alternator.  That way I charged at 14.5 all the time.  Worst part is the battery light, but it wont void your inspection.
