Advice on xfl12 replacent

Ready to build an new box and intended on grabbing an xfl or xr 15, but also been thinking about possibly trying out 2 of the ab competition 8's. I have a reliable 2k rms, and 4-5 cubes I can play with. I kinda like the idea of a single sub just because ppl don't believe one sub is outshining thier pair of subs, but again 2 8"s killing a pair of 10s or 12s is kinda cool too. Maybe even a 4 pack of 6.5s... I'm only limited by budget really. Wanna keep around $250 for whatever I do. My xfl12 is fine still but don't really want to run a pair of them, one reason being I'm getting 2k at 2ohms ( amp is 2 ohm stable) and my xfl is dual 4ohm, and inwas thinking about upgrading my girls Yukon, she's been running a pair ancient mtx 15" terminators since they " fell off the truck" back I'm the mid 90s lol. She's a creature of habit, tried a skar ix12 in a slot port but it couldn't hold a candle to the old 15s and she wasn't having it.  Any input would be awesome, I'm usually a rock/metal guy but sometimes I like to get sum decaf goin to knock the snow off my ride, that's kinda leaning me away from the smaller subs unless some of them can get low.

2009 Silverado 1500, 7.5" lift, 37x12.50r17s, Built Gen 4 5.3L ( 4.8l flat pistons, decked 243s, SS2 Cam, Pac 1218 springs, ported intake, 120mm TB, Long tubes, 3" duals HP tuner software tuned by me), 4l80e swapped and 4.56 gears. All done by me. stereo is Pioneer avh 600ex, all stinger rca, jp23 v1.5, skar rp150.4, and hertz hpd4. 2 SHCA 6.5 8ohm, 1 SHCA 3.5", and 1 DS18 tw120pro in each door. The 3.5 mid and 3.5" tweeters are powered by the skar rp150.4, the 6.5s are powered by the hertz bridged @4 ohms. Dual runs   of 3/0 welding cable, 300a alternator, 2 Vmax AGMs up front. current sub is a AB XR 12 ( dual 2 ohm) with bottom spider cut out in 2.25 cubes at 32hz

Yeah I like the "brown note" lol like punchy but gotta have the low end too. Prolly gonna go with a single 15 , now which 15 to go with? My xfl12 is a monster, put a xr 12 in my buddies suburban and it gets real nasty and seems to have a crisper sound, put to XD 12 in another buddies escape and they are loud but not as deep (prefab box tuned at like 40) and seems alot more sq. I'm super confident of American bass subs, they just won't disappoint , kinda afraid to try something else I have no experience with and end up with a turd like the PA Mofo 12 I started with in my blazer. I'm still outta touch with new brands and subs. Advice ? Max $250 for a 15 that can take 2k all day at 2ohms? And not just a brand name, but why is it better than an xfl or xr if u would.

I’ve been a big American Bass fan for life ,love there VFL line that’s my amps I run can handle half an ohm all day,  But I’ve run Sundown and Skar suds for years and always been happy. If U ran a Sundown U15 or ZV5 15 U would fall in love. That’s my 2 cents I’ve never been disappointed with Sundown or Skar.

Skar left a bad taste in my mouth after the ix12 deal, 125 rms peeled a voice coil apart that was supposed to take 250rms, and my sisters all skar install in her 370z nismo cost her 6k, single evl12 on a 2k skar mono, and I shit all over her car with my Rockville db16 and my xfl , same power and same cubes and comparable subs ( specs at least) ...that said that's the only 2 skar products I've heard. As for sundown, can't find a 15 that'll take the power I have for less than $400 , almost double what I got to spend ($250).  The AB elite 15s cost a few bucks less than the xfl and the xr but kinda feel that's moving backwarrds , and thinking my next box may have an inverted sub and stamped baskets don't look that sweet lol.

Is the he that much better than the xfl or the xr?  My xfl doesn't hardly break a sweat with 2k on it and I hammer on it anytime I'm in my truck . And if course the hd is above my budget...saw there was an hd18 and now I'm almost drooling...... Can an 18 be accurate enough to play daily music also? I have some 6.5" subs I could use to play some higher bass notes to fill in the freq gap an 18 would cause.

CT strato 18, can get one for under $200 and got enuff room for a big ol slot port , how comparable would that be to what I'm running now? Would have to dial the amp back quite a bit ( 1200rms at 4 ohms and sub is 800 rms but don't know how well it would hold more than rms power) . Anyone have an experience with these big ol things?

The HD is a very musical sub, especially in the right box.  As far as CT goes, I love their stuff too, I would be a little hesitant about your power on a strato tho.  That's more meso territory, and that's probably a bit pricey.

What is the budget you have in mind? If you give us a number I'd be happy to search some stuff out in the next day or so for you

$250 ish give or take, perfer the take part tho lol. Worse case I can try and save a bit more but I'm too impatient to wait too long. I see skar 18's in my price range but don't think I personally would trust a skar . I'm open to any suggestions, either 15 or 18...just gotta make a 2 ohm load or 4 ohms and my amp puts out 1200, which may even be better cause it won't pull as hard on my electrical.
