Passive crossover

So I've never done anything other than a component set. Would it be possible to buy a set of mid bass and tweeters and run them through a passive crossover since it seems I can get a little more power handling from separate sets compared to a single component set. Or will the extra power kill the crossover. If so should I just run 2 sets of components  Just trying to avoid having to run a sub, mid, and high amp. I don't have any brands in mind just trying to plan my next setup.

Them: "Why does my amp keep cutting out?"

Me: "What is your ohm load?"

Them: "What's an ohm load?"

Lol a diamond audio d3 500.4 is running my...um...2005 Honda Odyssey factory components. Has been for almost a year and they won't blow. But I'm planning on buying a 2003 Silverado ext cab. Either 1 or 2 sets in the front door and 1 in the back with a blow through in the bed.
