realflow100
chemical rubber smell from subwoofer? off gassing smell? My subs have a weird chemical rubber off gassing type smell when they are just sitting not playing but it gets stronger when they are playing or if i touch them with my hands or fingers. it just seems to get everywhere. it doesn't smell like cooked coils at all. its really strong near the front of the subs and box. but i can still smell it near the port and sides. will it go away eventually? the place i live is really humid will it take a really long time? its like south carolina temperatures and humidity here like a rainforest

slowfkncar
What type of sub is it? What amp? Its 60% RH on a good day for me, depending on the woofer it really only takes me 2-4 weeks for break in smell to go away but it really does depend on the woofer, some brands smell like shit for days. realflow100
its MTX AUDIO terminator brand subwoofer and box amplifier is a dual brand 500W RMS 4 channel bridged amplifier bridged to 2 channels so each sub gets about 250 watts RMS max but I have the gains set a little lower because its plenty loud enough
