DaveG
Hi everyone was wondering if I can run a second 0 gauge wire from alternator to second and third battery in the trunk which are in parallel. Does that make any sense or is it a dumb idea? Please help.

SnowDrifter
The alt is the ultimate source of power for your equipment. The shorter runs / fewer connections you can make in the process, the less your voltage loss due to resistance. It's important to consider where your fuses are when wiring in this manner. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

SnowDrifter
Current flow wiring to front battery: Alt -> Fuse -> Battery -> Fuse -> Fuse -> Rear Battery -> Fuse -> Amp -> Ground Path Current flow wiring to alt Alt -> Fuse -> Rear Battery -> Fuse -> Amp -> Ground Path Note: Your connection between alt and front battery should be fused and would cover the wire coming off the alt going to the rear. The alternator is not a fusible item as current stops when it stops turning. It's not included in this current path because as this is written with the premise that the alt is the ultimate power source for your system ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
White Lightning
According to old school competition rules, you must have a fuse within 18” from a battery. Wire from the fuse to the battery must be no longer than the length of the battery. Do not over fuse. Run smallest fuse possible to let system operate. The ideal place under the hood IS the Alternator for running wire to rear mounted batteries. hope this helps.
