Dual Amp input question.

Recommended Posts

So working out a build to start in a few days.

200amp alt, and good 1/0 ofc to the trunk, big 3 etc.

I am using a Deaf Bonce Machete MA-2000.1D for sub

And a 100x4 pioneer amp for doors.

The Machete amp will be wired at 1500w @ 2 ohm

Am I able to use the dual amp inputs to run 1/0ofc to it hooked into the machete amp, and then one coming out of the dual input to the pioneer 100x4 using a 1/0 to 4ga adapter.

I have heard a couple mixed opinions, but the 1/0ga ofc should be able to handle it (with the upgraded alt), and wouldn't the input then just act as a buss bar at that point?

I do a good bit of industrial electrical work for employment and am having a hard time seeing potential issues with this.

Good quality 1/0 is good enough for your 200A musical draw, the problem is you would need to give the main fuse a little more headroom due to the 4 channel on the same line and that's really not a good idea in terms of protection for daily driving, (e.g) rare but, you don't want a 200A dead short on a 250A fuse.

A small battery or some type of block/bar/distributor in the rear would allow you to fuse the amps independently.
