Don Hammond
I currently have 2 SHCA 1/0 + going from front battery to rear battery both fused with 350 amp ANL fuse per run both ends. My question is coming off the rear battery to the + distribution block do I need another fuse holder. It is 2 short runs 1' inside the vehicle. Then from distribution block to amp's do I need to fuse again? Those rubs are only 1.5' long max.

Don Hammond
I have 1 KX 2400.1 (200 AMP) and 2 Q class 500.4 (60 Amp Each). I was going off the calculations of watts/volts x 1.25 = 307. I read on a few forums that said to fuse for the wire size so thatis why I have the 2 350 amp fuses per run between the batteries
White Lightning
What would you rather protect ?? The wire or the amplifier(s) ??? your main fuses should be no larger than 200 amps with 60 amps fuses within 18 inches from the other amplifiers. White Lightning
Just to be clear ... you do not add 200 + 60 + 60 to determine main fuse size. Don Hammond
I used the formula to determine the fuse size. So I should buy another SMD fuse holder and fuse each amp also. 200 amp fuse to the 2400 and 60 amp fuse to the 500.4's. what about fuse size between the batteries. White Lightning
Your primary reason to fuse a audio system is to protect the amplifier(s) ... correct ??? White Lightning
If you over fuse your system, your not doing the amplifier(s) any justice. I have a Brutal Sounds 2k on a 15” driver. I beat on it daily with a 80 amp fuse. Can’t remember what the specs call for, but I know it’s much higher than what I’m running. Don Hammond
Yes also to protect factory electrical system from any shorts or ground faults between batteries. I want to protect it all. I will try smaller fuses on the amplifies and buy another SMD fuse holder. Worst case is the fuse blows and I install the recommended size for the amps
