I know it is very general question but I am curious, is ported generally the most efficient box? Lets say a series tuned 6th order 1.5:1 ratio single 12", vs 2 12" ported, both have 5 cu ft to play with just as an example. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bandpass boxes (of their various configurations) are for addressing specific needs and special situations. Outside of those, the ported box is the way to go. In the example you gave of one 12" in a BP6 vs two 12" in ported box, the two ported 12"s will be significantly better almost every time.
