Using DD-1+ to tune a Bi-Amp Component set

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am happy to have my CC-1 and DD-1+, amazing devices. Makes tuning systems soooooo much faster and easier. This weekend I am installing a focal flax 165FX comp set which has a bi-amp crossover. I am going to be using a jl xd700\5 for this system and the 4 channel section is what is going to run the bi-amp comp set.

I am looking for a baseline on how to tune the bi-amp comp set. I am guessing the tweeter section is going to be significantly tuned down compared to the mid driver, typically I give most mids/comp sets -1.0 through -5 of overlap and that has been working real well. Subs get -5 though -10 depending on what the setup is and who the customer is. That has been what I have been using the last few months and all the systems have sounded great using this "method".

Just curious what some of your thoughts are on the topic. Let me know what you think!
