Sub back port up in suv

I see where alot of people say sub up port back for SUVs. I don't have room for that. Right now I have both facing back and I hit 134db at the headrest. Determined that I may be choking the port against the back hatch. Could I do sub back port up and not lose much SQ or will it kill it?

How much space do you have between your tailgate and the box?

How wide are your ports?  As long as you have at least one port width of space it shouldn't impact performance much, it may lower tuning a bit though.
