Steve, I SO need some help !!!

Recommended Posts

I'm back with a new problem :(

okay, so I did figure out what setting I needed to fix in my DSP, to stop the popping coming from my coaxials....

Problem is, my DSP won't remember that setting as soon as I close the app in my phone :( After a long talk with a tech at Axxess DSP, we figured out that my DSP needs a firmware update, which can only be accomplished by opening up my dash, to at least get to the DSP with a micro USB and a laptop... Or removing the DSP and carrying it to a PC.

thats where it all gets sticky, as the place that installed it in the first place, did so reluctantly, as I did not buy it from them. So how am I going to ask them to open my dash up again, so I can update the DSP and then put it back in ?

Urgg.... :( Looking like this will just be a pain in my arse as long as I own the dam thing :(

sorry, i just saw this...sounds like you have it figured out.  DSP's aren't for noobs...i can't believe any shop worth a damn would send you home and tell you to figure it out yourself.

Hey Steve, TYSM for your reply :) Well, Im using the Axxess X DSP, but I actually worked out the issue (kind of). As it turns out, for my purposes, my DSP needed to be updated "before" it got installed in the dash behind my stock HU. So whats going on, is that pretty much every time I use it, I need to open the app for my DSP on my phone, and set it to, "Sum front and rear channels for subwoofer".... as it reverts to "Use subwoofer channel" when closed.... which is not an option in a 2019 Prius. Funny thing is, it somehow still comes up with enough of a bass signal, that my subwoofer sounds pretty good. Only difference is, when done this way, it apparently sends too much bass to the front and rear stereo channels, and any strong bass notes at higher volumes cause my mids to make hideous pops !

I can totally see myself resetting this with my phone, every time I hop in my car, for the life of my car (which for me is usually only about 4 or 5 years from brand new to throw away, anyway) as I am just so clueless about opening up dash boards.....

Thanks again. Would love to come visit you at the shop one day. I'm only living about 3 or 4 miles from there now :)

I've had a few people bring me the axxess because of the factory integration and chime volume for the 14 and up full size gm platform.

They are ok as a LOC but not as a dsp.

Well ya know, it actually sounds really good ! I mean, the SQ is exceptional ! ....just that I have to keep changing that one setting back to sum the bass from front and rear stereo channels, every time I use the car...it was a PITA getting the 31 band EQ dialed in, but it does remember that, so I'm good with that now. X-over pints too.
