Next setup, maybe a wall?

So I've got my 4 8 hds2.108s on 3k ( .5 ohm) and I absolutely love em, deep and loud subs but my issue is the original intent was to build a box for under the rear seat. That never happened, and now my amps are under the seat since the back wall turns to jello when the volume turns up. It messed up one of my amps already so I moved them to the floor. I have gave up on the rear seat ever being used so I'm gonna maximize the dbs and wall it off and go bigger. I have 3k @.5 ohms, haven't really measure what I got for available volume but I'm thinking of 4-6 12s or 4 15s. I was looking at the hds2 series from soundqubed since they are very budget friendly and they can take over rated power nicely. I'm doing a b pillar wall in my 97 GMC Sierra 2 door extended cab. Looks like I have about 20" behind the front seats to the back wall and about 60" wide, hieght probably 4' tall ( general measurements from memory). Anyone have any suggestions for subs ( how many, what size and what kind)? And a design idea maybe? I have my 8s sold for $400 and have maybe another $200 for a budget. I'm not opposed to buying another amp down the road either ( maybe another amp like I have and strap em). I appreciate all the advise and help in advance.

All done by me. stereo is Pioneer avh 600ex, all stinger rca, jp23 v1.5, skar rp150.4, and hertz hpd4. 2 SHCA 6.5 8ohm, 1 SHCA 3.5", and 1 DS18 tw120pro in each door. The 3.5 mid and 3.5" tweeters are powered by the skar rp150.4, the 6.5s are powered by the hertz bridged @4 ohms. Dual runs   of 3/0 welding cable, 300a alternator, 2 Vmax AGMs up front. current sub is a AB XR 12 ( dual 2 ohm) with bottom spider cut out in 2.25 cubes at 32hz

honestly though, the 4 15s has more cone area. if power is equal I'd lean toward cone area.

I play that Webbie ( slowed /decaf) all the time, ND I know cone area is King, just kind of wondering if anyone has any other suggestions like different model subs or knows if a better budget sub really. I play alot of rock too and as nasty as 15s get I think they are too slow (response wise , not fast like my 8s) ND a 12 is prolly bearable in that department. The hds2 series are only a few bucks apart from the 8s,10s,12s, and 15s so I guess I'm gonna have to go see what I can give up for cubes and let that make the decision for me.

So just ran out and measured what I got to work with and with 1.5" thick walls I have just over 23 cubes, maybe go stupid and grab 4 CT sounds 18s? My mids have enuff umph to take care of the bass when I listen to metal and rock and 18s will definantly get the shock effect and get good and low. Anyone have any experience with the tropo 18? My 8s r rated for 600 rms each and are getting right about 750 and take it with no problems , I'd imagine the tropos will too since it has 3" voice coils, I know I can dial back the amp too, but don't wanna waste cash on a sub that'll cook easily.

The size of the sub really doesnt matter on quickness of the bass.

My SI HT18 I did infinite baffle in the truck was probably my favorite setup all around. Played clean, flat, quick, low. Anything you threw at it sounded phenomenal in the bass department.

The DD 9518 ported was almost as good, but waaaaay louder so I compromised.

I vote 4 18s for the cone area

You’re going to miss not being able to recline your seats back. Basically turning into a single cab is going to suck for someone who’s had the luxury of an extended cad a while ...  Just Saying Yo

That has crossed my mind, also was thinking about maybe 4 12s across the bottom and have it flat about where rear window is ( kinda like a wedge design) so I can still recline and even have a place to put groceries and stuff too, idk what I wanna do yet thats why I'm asking here to get sum ideas.

that's not a thing. it's not a leaver like a diving board. it's like a barbell, it's moves up and down. if it's 8ft long or 5ft long it's travel is still up x distance and down at x distance. if this had any factual basis then everyone would have small subs.

Well I have had from 8s to 18s in the last 25 years and I can tell you even 15s in a sealed box struggle to replicate a double bass pedal in a Pantera song , it's not all about the moving distance or xmax, cone weight has a huge effect on quickness of response and in tryin to keep moving in and out as fast as the fast signal ( double bass pedal sound) it's gonna build alot of excess heat around the coil. I can't break down the scientific basis if that but I've seen it in person many many times. If ur all metal music a 8 or even a 10 is gonna be a better choice than a 12,15,18.
