In fact knu's 8g is as big as most others 4g.

Knu is the best 4awg out there, capable of 150A at 20', his run is below 20' and only needs to be capable of 80A. You're not recommending bad products but you're making it sound like he needs more than he actually needs. As long as the wire kit he ordered was OFC and not some "install bay" or other crap brand, he'd be fine. I think it's good he chose Knu, but he's running a modest amp and sub so he could've gotten by with less if $ is a concern. I recommended knu or sky high (I prefer knu myself) but explained he could save a few bucks if that's important to him.

Thanks for the help, I will let you know how it all goes this weekend if i notice any difference in sound.

Awesome, good luck with the upgrade. Even if you don't audibly hear a difference now, that CCA in the engine bay would've slowly deteriorated since it would've been running hot while exposed to the elements. You made the right decision, doing it right the first time prevents issues down the road.
