so I just ordered a taramps md 8000.1 2 ohm and had to redesign my box for my extended cab z71. I'm having HUGE problems getting enuff port area with the amount of power I have. ill be wired to 2.67ohms and after rise id figure id be at 4ohms. the amp does 8k at 2ohms and im guessing at 4 ohms ill have 5-6k rms. my max dimensions for the box is 62 wide, 26 high and 22 top depth and 29 bottom depth. to get 9 cubes net ( subs call for 3 each net) and close enuff port area I had to use 4500 rms power in triticums port calculator. I hope that going to be enuff to not cause issues. my other question is using a port on the face the port will be shorter by 7" at the top than the bottom , how does that effect tuning? ( using a slot port because I'm comfortable with em and it adds bracing inside the box at the same time. I origionally wanted to be tuned at 28hz but cant get that low with enuff port area so had to come up to 32hz to compensate. anyone have any suggestions or idea that may help? here is the torres page I ended up with, going to play around more too. this would be face ported, trying to stay on the face because id like to use the top of the box as a "package tray" since itll be the only place I can put stuff inside the cab like groceries or whatever. if I just cant make it work ill port up and put expanded metal over the port or something.1680190484_Screenshot(38).thumb.png.167497b559b9226a1138ddf5821176f1.png

I'm trying to not buy more stuff, but will buy sonotube or something , really cant afford to buy a few BAP ( those things r like $75-100 each cant afford that). I actually have access to 10 and 12" sono-tube right now, no elbows but can make a smooth bend in sonotibe and reinforce with fiberglass with no issues tho

that's what I got using whole width as a port on the top, cant seem to get good results with a round port at all. tried 3 10' a few 12" nothing comes out any good, cant get it low enough ( tuning I mean)

So I'm almost thinking I will be only using 2 of my 15s and get a 5k. Feel like that's like cutting my foot off cause my shoe don't fit but I can't take up anymore space in my truck and it be practical at all.

I feel ya. I wanted more than 2 12"s originally in my car. I thought about 3-4 12"s or 2 15"s, but I wanted to keep as much trunk space as possible. In the end do to how I need to position the box, It fills the whole trunk up anyway. Oh well. Sounds good at least :) It would be nice if you can find a way to use all 3 of those.

I come up just shy of optimal port area I think that'll be ok, my issue now is how to calculate port length when at top edge of face of box is 7" farther back than bottom edge of face. Do I just use the middle of that angle to calculate port length? I don't mind being a few hz off but I'm already at 32 when I wanted to be at 28 so if it gets any higher I'm gonna be severely disappointed, cause the whole reason I went with 15s was for the "brown note" ( yeah if ur not a southpark fan u jut wouldn't understand lol). My 8s were mean in the lower 30s and I definitely want lower than that

I designed a box once, (I didn't build it though just want to put that out there) but I mirrored the port slant from the front of the box to the back of the port. so both the top and bottom of the port were the same length the whole port. if that makes since. I am not sure if you can do that in your situation, but It tested good in a simulation.

In this box it wouldn't work because the port turns, but I get what ur saying, port wall would look like a parallelogram from the side. May try and put a port on each end and see how that works out, would make life alot easier compared to guessing. Would doing one on each side mean there would be 6 shared walls in Torres ? Man it just gets more and more fun, just hate to waste $250 worth if wood ya know, and 8+ hours for a one off failure.

Yeah that was basically it. I did have a 90 turn in mine though and the port ran along the back wall of the box. just the end of the port that was open had a matching angle to the front of the box. I know what you mean about not wanting to tune higher. I wish my 12"s were tuned at 28. It is right around 30 or 31 now. I might not notice if it were lower, but I keep thinking I would, so that is enough to make me wish I has done it :)

Hell I didn't think about angling just the end like that, that makes sense that'd prolly work too. Probably would have to keep the closest edge of the port however wide port is away from the side which may in itself affect tuning just because it'll limit port length, thank you tho gives me something else to try, I'm GOING to jam all 3 of these 15s in there one way or another!
