Looking for newer deck

Recommended Posts

I have a deck from 2013, its a Pioneer DEH-80PRS, I believe that during its time it was the most advanced deck out there at the consumer level. Now that it is 2020, I am wondering if something newer has been produced with the equivalent feature set.

Is there something that can succeed the 80PRS? I am looking for something that would go good with an Android phone, and have a CD player. As for the price, I think I spent around 250 for my 80PRS, so I would like to stay around that price if there is something out there like the 80PRS.

I have a pioneer avh-600ex   has time alignment, network mode, 3 sets of pre-outs, car play, alot of features , I got it refurbished for $250. Any if the pioneer double dins are nice, alot if the lower end ones ( 210ex) only have 2 3v pre-outs and limited features tho.

2009 Silverado 1500, 7.5" lift, 37x12.50r17s, Built Gen 4 5.3L ( 4.8l flat pistons, decked 243s, SS2 Cam, Pac 1218 springs, ported intake, 120mm TB, Long tubes, 3" duals HP tuner software tuned by me), 4l80e swapped and 4.56 gears. All done by me. stereo is Pioneer avh 600ex, all stinger rca, jp23 v1.5, skar rp150.4, and hertz hpd4. 2 SHCA 6.5 8ohm, 1 SHCA 3.5", and 1 DS18 tw120pro in each door. The 3.5 mid and 3.5" tweeters are powered by the skar rp150.4, the 6.5s are powered by the hertz bridged @4 ohms. Dual runs   of 3/0 welding cable, 300a alternator, 2 Vmax AGMs up front. current sub is a AB XR 12 ( dual 2 ohm) with bottom spider cut out in 2.25 cubes at 32hz

Well the advantage the 80 prs has (and I am an owner and fan of the 300band down double find with 3 way networking, love em, even more options and adjustability than the 80) any way, the prs 80 has that 3 layer heavy copper trace board and tight tolerance high quality components attached to the board for "better sound quality".  I've ran both though, and it's not that noticable.

Yes the step up would be the $1000+ 99prs.

Or find you a eclipse with the 8v outs. Them things even being 20 years old, put the 80prs to shame

From what I've read the Kenwood excelons have the higher end dac and internals, but couldn't tell ya details, I'm not a fan of how the Kenwood's interface works, a PITA to adjust anything compared to other brands. Jut my 2¢ tho. Really depends on what u r looking to accomplish too, if it's a higher end sq setup u need something like ur current unit or better, but a daily beater with sum knock in it I seriously doubt ur gonna hear the difference between a mid level unit and a really high end one, ND that's my opinion again lol

What's your max budget?

Under $200 - pioneer AVH-500ex

$250 - AVH-600 or 601ex

$300-$350 - AVH- 521EX, 2500NEX, 2400NEX, 2300NEX.

ALL listed have 3 sets 4v rca, and active 3 way networking

Less is best..

i was looking at the 2400nex and others..

but apparently one or two or the models have a lot of problems or something I don’t know what to believe on the internet anymore..

i kinda like the option to play my cds still
