I'm super intrigued by this build !

Recommended Posts

This one build by itself "almost" has me completely sold on a 6th order enclosure. I'd be super impressed if this setup "only" played in the high 150's... Just because of its crazy wide bandwidth... 18-80hz !?!? WoW ! .....since I put quite a bit of weight on SQ as well as SPL's.

But the fact that this guy is hitting 163's with only 15Kwts and 4 15"s too ? Are you freaking kidding me ?

Ya' know, my latest box... My 18" with two 15" passive radiators, is the best sounding enclosure I've ever built, out of probably 30.... And so after that, I had PR's floating all around in my head. But now, I doubt my next will be another PR setup.

Also, I need to quit screwing around with 4th orders.... As I've already hit a few of those as close to optimum as I'm going to get, and they were okay for the time...

But now I'm thinking a properly designed and built 6th order might be as good as it gets.

PS, This system also makes it very easy to visualize how a 6th order works. Honestly, I don't think it would be that hard to design / build....

It’s a lot harder than picking certain frequencies to tune to and certain chamber sizes. There’s A LOT of variables to play with and that need to be spot on or the sound isn’t optimal. Not crappy but could be better. I can build any enclosure but to get it where it is at optimal performance and sound quality is the hard part with 6th order and 8th order enclosures. You can’t just say hey I’m gonna do a 2:1 ratio and tune this chamber to 30hz and this chamber to 50hz. It’s nerve racking and a science. If I do a 6th order enclosure, I’m just gonna pay down4sound $100 for the design. Forget doing all the calculations just to have them conflict and then have to redesign and recalculate until it’s ideal when I can pay somebody who builds enclosures for a living for the enclosure design and all I have to do is build it. I just need to figure the science out like I did for 4th orders. But I’ve yet to find somebody to explain it to me or yet to have read it, hear it or see it. I think once I build it, the science will come lol! Like I’ll learn the science just by going over the design and building it.

:stupid:“How can we help you?”

Fair enough. I think tracking down someone with a guaranteed show winning background, Down4sound certainly has a great rep, but their are a few others too, who I would certainly pay for a solid design....

But then I'd want to model it myself too, and I'd probably drive them crazy with questions... Like why, why not, what about, etc 😀 lol

Seriously though, I'm good with math. And I'm very good with calculations needed for enclosures, ports, tuning, etc. So like I say, even if I paid a pro to design it... Or even to build it, by the time everything was said and done, I would know every bit of the science and math involved.

Also after that, if I were at a show, or on a YouTube video, I wouldn't be the guy who is like, "Ummmm... Well I dunno... I had it built for me... You will have to ask bubba"

Hellz no ! I'd have every spec memorized to the second decimal place 😀 lol

PS, and as for checking a professionally designed 6th order, you know that WinIsd can do this, right ?

Oh, and I didn't mention this, but the guy in this vid, bought this setup / SUV already built.... But he knew what he had anyway.

You and I would get along pretty well...😛
