Jonrussell18
I have a 98 Trans Am with an Orion XTR 500.4 running all 4 channels at 2 Ohms and an Orion XTR 650.1d at 1 Ohm. I've got a 175 Amp alternator installed with the big 3. Voltage while cruising is almost perfectly fine. Really depends on the song and if I'm running A/C or a defroster or something. At idle, my voltage drops pretty bad. Measuring at the amps it can get all the way down below 12 volts. Should I just add a 2nd battery or replace the primary one? Current battery is just a Duralast Gold.
bcbrassard
Replace primary with a good agm battery, Measure and install the largest you can fit. I have a HO alt 220 amp Singer and at idle my voltage can drop to mid 12's @ 900 rpms. If i keep the rpms @ 1300 voltage stays at 14-14.3. So that how i like to listen to music if i am not driving. Running 4 amps: 2 RF P500-4(800 watts) SQ 850(800 watts) & SQ 2250(2k watts)
