1/0 OFC for ~2500RMS

Recommended Posts

I am trying to plan out the wiring for my new system. The truck is a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD crew cab. I am running 2x Mechman 240a alternators with both (2x) factory group 34/78 batteries. My question is, will one run of 1/0 OFC be enough to power 2500RMS under the back seat? I am planning on using a Skar RP-150.4AB and Skar RP-1500.1D to power the door speakers and subs. I want to do this with as few of cable runs as possible. If one run of 1/0 OFC will power this load, it would be much easier to handle, especially once I add my power inverter at a later time. The goal would be to use the single 1/0 OFC run to a SHCA 1/0 to 2x 4ga distribution block with 4ga OFC feeding each amp and 2x 125a ANL fuses in the block. Both amps add up to 240 total amps (each amp has 120a worth of fuses).

Is this an unreasonable ask for 1/0 OFC? From what I can tell/quick searching it "should" handle ~300a without any fuss.
