98 SNAKE EATER
Ran into a little snag with the box build for my Sienna It was glassed into the 8th seat storage cubby hole in the left quarter panel Problem is even though it's a snug fit, it still needs to be properly secured to keep from popping out on hard left turns I don't want to drill any holes on the panel itself, so I'm thinking about using a heavy duty fishing magnet like this on the inside of the box and hot glue a steel plate (or maybe another magnet) to the backside of the panel Will this have any effect on the sub? reedal
Adhesive backed velcro will not harm your panel. If/when you decide to take it off, a little bit of non-acetone nail polish remover and a cotton ball or soft cloth will easily remove any leftover adhesive and leave your panel looking like nothing was ever there SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=

Had that stuff kill my dash before, never again Removable double sided tape will do, but this is just a precise fit that anything between the box and the panel pushes the box out to where the bottom trim panel won't fit flush anymore. Any thoughts on the magnet idea?

The hot glue will only be there to hold the steel plate or second magnet in place hidden behind the panel. Epoxy wpuld be better, but I don't think it'll be necessary. Once I have the box in place, the fishing magnet inside will cinch it down even tighter (pulling the box against the panel).
MrSkippyJ
ooh. That might work. what is the melting point for hot glue? If it's on the backside of the panel just use some real glue. The low temp stuff I use melts around 230-240*F The high temp sticks around 350-400*F
MrSkippyJ
you can try it. id rather have better glue than hot glue holding my enclosure in place.
