Ah yes... The age old conundrum.

 

If you go directly from not enough bass into clipping it normally means it's time to buy more equipment :D

Hifonics after that good. They don’t do rated. Sundown are really good and do more than rated.

Some of the hifonics amps from the late 80s and early 90s were straight up BEASTS for their era. I had an old school Zues from the 90s. I had the amp on 4 earthquake Magma 12s, the OLD ones with the flat cone. That system would POUND. 

 

Back then they were also going for about a dollar per watt too...
