snb778
Hello I'm looking for a new car as a daily driver. Leaning towards a CR-V or a Rav-4. I want a small SUV, no not a Tahoe (to big). I figure for reliability purposes, these seem like the only 2 options for something with 70-100k miles on it. I'd like to stay around 6-7k if possible which means there'd be more miles on the car. I'd consider going a little newer, but I heard after 2011 with the CR-V, the voltage fluctuates from 12.5-14.4 while driving, and any modifications to the electric system deactivate the AWD, anyone know if that is true? Also heard the 2011 style is a PITA to get the ALT out. I'll be running an RP3500 with either 2x15's, 1x18, or 2x12's.
pnutz37
My parents own a 2013 Rav 4. It's been a very reliable vehicle. The only thing that has happened was the A/C compressor crapped out. If you like I can check the voltage on the car to see how it holds the voltage with the lights and heater on etc. I can also have a look to see if the alternator is easy to access. They do have a nice hatch space that would let you build a nice box for your set up. Let me know.
