Sometimes, even if you're not clipping, I've seen (especially with less expensive amps) if you have the gain up almost or all the way, the amp will somewhat lightweight struggle, and send a little noise through the signal. Using a line driver to boost the RCA signal so you can lower the gain, can sometimes help sound quality. But, now that I think about it, his gain probably isn't up super high anyway, so you're right, it probably won't help much 2011 Chevy Silverado under construction My build log here. Check it out!
