New dilemna! They sent me the wrong amp

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I ordered a cxa 600.1 amp, I received a cxa 800.1

There's a certificate inside saying the rms is tested at 866 watts rms.

I'm going to return my 8" subwoofer.

Will the 800.1 power a 10" q class l7 or even a 12"?

The q class l7 10" says 750 rms 1500 max

The q class l7 12" says 900 rms 1800 max

Will the 800.1 (866 watts rms) be enough for either of those?

Thanks!

That amplifier will do fine with either of those subs. Though it might be a little better paired with the 10. But if you prefer a 12, like I said, it'll move that 12 no problem.

So, the 10" RMS being a little under the RMS at 1 ohm of the amplifier can be seen as "better" because you would end up using all the power you can get from the amplifier, and close to all you can get out of the subwoofer. That's what I mean by a better pair.

But that's not to say that amp wouldn't work well with the 12. In a ported box, that amp would be great for a 12 as well. It's up to you and your preference between a 10 and a 12.

Is space an issue for you? If it is, might want to go with the 10. Maybe even the 10 in a sealed enclosure.

Does a lot of the music you listen to play deeper, low bass? Might want to go with the 12

Those are just 2 examples. There are many other things that can sway your decision one way or another.

This is going in the back of my wrangler, so space isn't an issue.

I listen to a little bit of everything.

So the amp would make good bass from either of those subs?  They come in their own ported box, which I know isn't ideal, later on I can have a box built for it, but that's later.

Yes it will work with both but the 10 would probably be a better match like @Dafaseles said

That amplifier, in the right enclosure, will sound good on either sub. Remember, as far as sound goes, the enclosure makes all the difference in the world

Most likely it'll work but your not gonna get the most out of the sub in a prefab box

Ok, ordered the 10" q l7.  Later on, when time is more available, I'll have a custom box built for it.

So the box kicker makes isn't that great?

I've read that the kicker premade boxes are tuned really high. Like 45 hz or something. I've talked to a couple box designers and they all say the premade boxes for the square subs are way too small and tuned way too high. It'll work, and you'll probably like it, but having a box designed for the sub and the power you're giving the sub and the vehicle is going in its always best
