StuntBoy
Building a subwoofer box, ported for a 12” sundown xv.3 sundown. Site recommends 32hz 29” W 16” H 21” D Does the box specs to be at these specifications that sundown requires? Or can it be a bit smaller of a box or larger? Also what is better mdf or birch ? Joe X
You have plenty of space, sundown box specs are just fine, just pay attention to use correct port area and box calculations to be correct. other than that you want to build the right box for the type of vehicle, on the wood pick 3/4" thickness, wood type between those two will not stop you for completing a project, pick your preference. StuntBoy
Gotcha, thinking about isntead of double baffling I will just build a support to hold the motor of the sub. And will be going with mdf
Joe X
I would recommend a double layer for the baffle and heavy bracing all around, the simplest approach is double layering everything but that would result in a really heavy box specially if using MDF. StuntBoy
Is birch wood better then mdf for low bass etc?
Joe X
You can use either is just that MDF has higher density and therefore is heavier.
