Recommended Posts

I could not find my old thread anymore, probably moved to the archive.

I have not worked on my car in a while, but last month i finally bought a new amp for my DTS/ 5.1 install and i can now begin on the Audio system.
I got a 9 Channel Phoenix Gold Zen 9 which i will install in my Avensis Turbo 4x4.
The Avensis is swapped to 2.0 16 Turbo, and swapped from 2wd to 4wd. It has a MoTeC M400 stand alone ECU.

Covering the rear deck to make a smooth shape with epoxy. The 3rd brake light is now in the rear spoiler and since i can have only one 3rd brake light i removed the original one from the rear deck. The hole is now covered by the fleece.

  • AvensisTurbo changed the title to Phoenix Gold Zen 9 install for Toyota Avensis Turbo 4x4 - SQ - Boston Z6 Speakers

Since i have to drill some holes at a very difficult position which is not possible with my normal drill, i made some hole stickers with an allignment point in them so i can open the holes up exactly with my dremel. With the metal plate in its position, I have turned around the drill bit by hand without it attached to the machine, this gave about a 2 mm marking. The centre hole in the sticker is also 2 mm. I opened up the transfer tape in the centre so i can see through it for perfect alligment. When it is installed i then take away the centre donut, which leaves the 6 mm opening that can be opened with a metal grinding bit. When finished i have a perfect hole that now takes the bolt...

After putting the rear deck cover back in place i placed a template of the speaker size in the opening to determine the exact center point where the opening must be made in the alloy plate. Cover is removed and only thing left to do is mark the center on the plate.
