xXDigitizerXx
Seeing if anyone would help design a box for me? Looking for help on a box for 2 Sundown Xv3 12s. Subs up, port back in the middle (SUV box) will be going in a 2016 GMC Terrain. (Slot port or aero port, I have no preference) I will be running a Taramps Bass 8k on them, with solid electrical. I listen to rap/rebassed music alot and I love the lows. Max dimensions I'd like if possible 38"Wx22"Dx22"H, I do have some wiggle room if those dimensions won't work. Sundowns website recommends the follow specs for an Xv3 X v.3 12 Ported Enclosure 2.5 cu ft Recommended Tuning 32hz Recommended Port Area 40 sq in Displacement 0.2 cu ft Depth 10.4" Outside Diam. 12.68" Cutout 11.09" I know Joe X, does a lot of box help, you out there Joe X? Lol I tried to search the forum for pervious topics on boxes for these subs, but for whatever reason only get "no results" hard to navigate via mobile phone. Thanks in advance if anyone helps. Joe X
I am around. It's pretty obvious what needs to be done (more so since you know the specs), 5 cubic feet net, 80 square inches of port area, simplest is double layer 0.75 wood all around, 32Hz tuning. If you want an actual layout or more custom specs please provide a couple of pics, one is the location where the box will be in your car, second a picture of your new amp and subs together. xXDigitizerXx
I ended up going with Sundown ZV6 12s d1s. Still on the Taramps Smart Bass 8k. The Subs should be here within the week. Still looking to make a box, I found a box a guy has on YT, just don't know the dimensions and his box was for xv3s. I wanted to make a simulator box, I just need someone with more know how than I have to design it, since ports aren't my strong set, so I can build it. I'll attach. A picture of the guys box. I have 38" Wide, 21" depth and up to 24" height I can work with, I have more depth available but wanted to leave some space between the port and rear hatch door so the port has space to do it's thing.. I'd like to have a box that is 5-5.5ft^3 with the recommended port area of 38sq in per sub. Tuned to 32hz. I used an app on my phone to get a rough idea of a box, I'm just not 100% sure, I did the port part right. I'll attach a screen shot of that as well, if you'd be so generous as to give some insite please. In the app, I only accounted for a double baffle, not sure if I should make the entire box 1.5" thick or just the baffle. I have a 12x36 3/4 sheet of acrylic coming to do the window. Any perspective of better knowledge is welcomed. Thanks. Edited September 3 by xXDigitizerXx
xXDigitizerXx
This is my current box and subs, box is 38x20x20. Just wasn't enough lows for me. I Made the box out of some maple plywood.. The amp is mounted to the rear seats behind the box as well as the lithium bank being behind the box. These XFL 12s, I only had on a Taramps Smart Bass 3k and 96ah Headway bank, the bank is now a 128ah, my Alternator is a Singer 300ish amp. The new box I plan on making out of 13 ply Baltic birch. I already built the box to the specs, I listed above. Doing some final touches on it and hoping for the best. Lol. If it sounds bad, I can atleast reused the 3/4 acrylic window I put in it and start over. Thinking I should have made it a little bigger none the less. Hoping to get atleast 150s with it and I'll be happy. Thanks though, for your replies. Edited September 22 by xXDigitizerXx
