if so, its probably because its not ALWAYS how loud you actually are, its how you get that pressure to the mic properly. Some people are experts at this. For example you have an extreme car that does 170 at the dash but in the drivers side it does a 140. Same reason a CRX with 2 12's can touch numbers like my Tahoe has done, but no way in HELL it sounds anything like mine....thats why i dont base my opinion of someones system solely on the numbers. Sure, a little bit, it is a meter after all, but it isnt everything when it comes to a groundpounder.
