The rule of thumb is about 1/5-1/4 resin to 4/5 filler, so about 20-25% of total material, then once thats mixed nicely toss in your hardener and stirr like a mofo-****IMPORTANT NOTE***** the addition of the resin generally DECREASES drying time (it will get hard faster than normal with the same amount of hardener), so get it on there double time as it might get hard too fast and you'll waste more that way.

Hope that helps a bit. Other folks say you can use other mediums/liquids to thin it like rubbing alcohol, as it will evaporate and leave the hard stuff there smoother for sanding, or Ray has suggested using Honey, although that was the first i has heard of that one.

I can say for sure the resin trick works.

Good luck yo, keep snappin pics too!

Alright - well this is what I used to fill in the big holes an irregular stuff before I go with the bondo/resin mix for the hopefully last coat. It worked alright, really hard to get smooth, but it bonds really well. Bioooootch  :ranting2:  to sand though. I was going to go with some kitty hair and resin mix like all you pro fiberglasser guys use, but I really didn't want to have that stuff everywhere, and I probaly woulda glued my hand to my face, and got kitty hair all in my eye and my dog would've been stuck to the kick panel. It would've been ugly. Gonna keep going tonight....

HAHA nice.

Well-I may not be a "pro-glasser", but I'm pretty familiar w/ the stuff and been the foreman on a project or 6. That said-The kitty hair/highly reinforced stuff (including what you're using) is not neccessary for the OUTSIDE of kicks, just gets used on BOXES cuz Boxes get beat on by some pretty heavy forces thanks to them subwoofers we put in em. Since kicks are smaller scale, you can use bondo or rage/dynalite on the outside to smoooth em out all nice and just fiber/resin/kittyhair the inside, and since no one ever see's that part no worries on the sanding of that hardcore stuff. Technically pods only need to be about 1/8" or so of fiber plus w/e u need to get em "smoothed" out in the sanding phase.

Might be too late on this one, but hopefully that will give your hand some rest on the next sandin ordeal. Besides, a lil overkill is ok in box/kick building.

Yea, mine are overbuilt too, but i knew what I was gettin into when i started on em. I just thought if I could pass that bit of info on I should. True they get kicked from time to time, but if they don't, no need in killin ur sanding arm on em if they will be "just for looks". Not to mention, I think I really meant-save the sanding time by making them "less overbuilt" from the outside, then just reinforce the inside. I do Meade's 45 deg resin trick in my pods with a resin/bondo mix to strengthen/heavy em up a bit inside while makin sure they are sealed like a mofo. Lil boxes is what ur makin essentially.

Back to work.
