itssteve Posted January 23, 2009 Report Share Posted January 23, 2009 well i purchased an alt from mechman and it was the 250 amp alt for a 95 toyota celica. i got a good price and all of that and the alternator is beautiful however it doesnt fit. first off the bolt for the tensioner was to short no problem easy 1$ fix. But now i have an even greater problem the alternator case is so large that it will not fit inbetween the top mount and the bottom mount with enough space to let me slide the alt in and out to get tension on the right size belt. i am wondering if anyone knows a way to fix this or if i should start looking for a new alt. MECHMAN Posted January 24, 2009 Report Share Posted January 24, 2009 I tryed and they are closed untill monday a slightly shorter belt will solve the tensioning issue. If you are having any other problems, Dennis will rectify them for you immeadiatly, just call him at 1-888-MECHMAN. We sell tons of those units, and a shorter belt is all that should be required for a bolt-in installation. With the car on it's at 12 volts and with everything else on it still sits at 12 volts never higher. I had the exact same problem putting my new one in and after messing with it for a couple hours, I had to cut and splice a new clip for it reversing the wires. Quote Need an install?
