audiofanaticz
How hard would it be to extend the harness... I know 4' wont reach. I think I am doing to do this to mine when I order mine. The gray cord is 3 wires ( colors are black, red, white) just cut the wire, extend it, use some but connectors, or solder and heatshring and done. audiofanaticz
Wiring them up is pretty simple too, only 3 wires. But looks like mechman covers that too. This is the way they you are told to wire them, 12+ terminal to battery field terminal to smaller stud on the externally regulated alternator. ground terminal to battery ground or alternator ground(preferd). One thing that I was not sure off, but I figured since there was no ignition source for the voltage regulator and got connected to a constant 12volt source I assumed the thing never turned off. Unless it shuts off automatically???? I did a simple fix to this and ran a relay on a 12 volt ignition wire from my fuse box under the hood, and wired it for the relay to turn it on from the battery, and not the ignition itself becuase for some reason every ignition wire caused the voltage to be random from 13 volts - to whatever voltage I had the knob set at, and the relay fixed this. superduper
did you use a step down when you adjusted it up to 16v?
