Well I have decided that I am finally going to start the build log even though I am almost done since every time I post a question I add pictures so it is scattered everywhere.

Btw, the camera I am using is from my phone so it is not the best quality but it gets the point across.

To start off I am 16 years old and this is my first system/car I will be doing.

I will be putting in:

1 Fi 18" Bl

1 Rockford Fosgate t1000.1bd Mono Amplifier

1 Alpine CDA-9884 head unit

my box will be right around 9 cubic feet after displacements and will be roughly tuned to 31~32Hz

Rockford Fosgate 1/0 Wire

RF RCA

1 Kinetik HC1400

and other miscellaneous things necessary for a build.

The Hoe...

its going to be double baffled for a flush finish...

eventually it will be carpeted as well.

installing the head unit

wiring in a GMOS in order to keep the Bose speakers (for now) wasn't that hard

Posted Image

my original plan was to put the Kinetik on a battery tray from Chevy but there were too many complications and things just didn't fit right.

so it ended it up in the back under the passenger side seat on top of a little piece of MDF so it wasn't floating on the seat brace.

wiring the 1/0 to the back.

what I did was drill a hole down in the groove of the door frame and wire it up the wheel well into the engine compartment of course with a grommet.

Posted Image

with the seats out so I could get the RCA, Power Bass controller, remote turn on, and 1/0 under the carpet...

back to the build...

I wasn't sure where to mount the amp since I know it isn't good to put it on the back of the box where it would have been the most efficient for running wires and what not so I decided on putting it underneath the seat. I saw Steve's build on his Tahoe and wanted to do the same thing where you cut a piece of MDF to contour around the seat brace and then mount the amp to the board but I didn't have enough and it just doesn't seem like there is enough airflow to it like that.

So eventually I decided to take about a 2" long piece of PVC and let the amplifier float about the seat brace and just screw the amp with long enough screws to the frame.

I got lucky and two of the seat braces were perfect size away from each other so I only had to screw twice and bolt the other two to the brace.

...where to mount the remote.

Do like everyone on YouTube; let it just hang around - too sloppy.

Mount it in between the seat and the center console - ends up ruining the upholstery

Copy Chevy and mount another switch on the side of the seat because it already has enough room to get your hand too it and it is out of the way - I think we will go with this one.

and the finished product...

last one for the night...

running the wire across the engine bay to the battery terminal.

you can pick these up at Home Depot.

they work great.

thats it for now.

all thats really left is to mount the subwoofer and connect the wire to all the terminals and put the fuses in.
