Guest jbinn
Ok so im cruising along pounding everythings going good all of a sudden my bass kicks off... I turn my volume down for a little while and it comes back on I get out I go in my trunk, wiring is fine... sub smells fine, my gain was properly adjusted. Any ideas what It could be? could my amp be going? maybe its overheating because my sub is too big? i have no idea... its very random and doesnt happen often, the weird part is it never happened on my old kickers... I soldered everything INSIDE my box so it cant be a lose connection inside the box i don't think.

Guest jbinn
I guess I can just deal with it until I get my hifonics 1605D and knuconcepts 0/1 gw and see if it still happens, maybe it's a bad ground? and when I hit a bump it kicks off? its just weird how it'll kick off random and kick on random, I guess the ground would make sense since i've had problems with it in the past, my ground wire literally got split in two and i just taped it back together lol so it's probably a draw or something in it. Guest jbinn
check your grounds. and solder joints can fail BTW. by fail do you mean fall off? if a one of my joints failed wouldnt the sub not work altogether since one of the wire wouldnt be touching? I gues I can pull my terminal out and see if it's still connected. im thinking it's a bad ground as well...my ground wire is all messed up. Guest jbinn
mm ok I suppose I can just cut part of my power wire and use it as a ground for now.. as far as wiring i pulled my terminal on my box out and the solder joints are fine. Guest jbinn
theres a bolt and nut on the top of my trunk that I have it grounded too I couldnt find any good spots on the rear latch of my trunk so this would be the best spot imo, I can see my amp power light (the blue light ontop of Alpine MRP amps) flicker when bass hits hard, is this a power problem indication or do all amp LED's flicker a little? also I suppose I can try a new ground spot but I have no idea where. spl4life
double check all the wiring after you replace your ground... and dont ignore it.... you dont want ur car to catch on fire... if the LED on the amp turns off.. then it sounds like you have some serious voltage drop... do you have the big 3 done? what ga wiring you using???
