1985 Buick Regal Limited Build Log

Recommended Posts

Well I am not sure where my build thread would fit best so I figured I would put it in the hydraulic section. I have about a year into the build already, and plenty of pics. If you don't like hydraulics/etc. may not be too interesting.

The story goes like this! :)

I had my 98 GMC Jimmy (Daily driver) broken into at work one day and they did such a bang up job on it that the car was totalled out.

Before:

After:

I needed a new daily of course so I found this G-Body regal for a song and a prayer:

Was originally just going to paint the regal and try to flip it until the engine went out...and I had to replace it:

After that was all said and done I was still planning on selling it until I realized I dropped a little over $4,000 on the engine so that is when the real build began! :)

From there it was onto a full frame wrap, and complete rebuild of the rear hump area:

Started torching out the pieces to weld onto the frame, and grinding them down smooth:

The front belly was fully wrapped in 1/4" as well as the rails, and everything else was done in 3/16". The rear rails were wrapped in the 3/16" twice to hold up to the 9 batteries and 3 pumps going in the trunk

We also reinforced the rear end, as well as converted it to a rear disc break assembly:
