Cone Area Of A Subwoofer

Recommended Posts

Does this still account for subs with bigger dustcaps then others, and even with subwoofers with no dustcap? Or even ones with huge surrounds that makes the cone look smaller? Sundown has some huge cones that make a 15" look like a 12".

dust cap nor cone need to be factored in, only effective piston area (the flat cross-section from 1/2 surround to 1/2 surround).

The numbers given in this thread are pretty inaccurate..

MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..."

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.
