meade916 sorry but your mostly wrong GEO....aiming forward WHILE ISOLATING the cabin from the trunk is the BEST way to do it.  Aiming backwards is only best if you dont plan on isolating.  I dont know what tommy did to get a 150 with one ten but it wasnt aimed backwards in a trunk so thats a bad example really....

was thinking the same exact thing...everthing i have ever read about trunks has suggested to fire forward sealed off or put the box all the way back against the trunk opening but still firing forward...here is a great link about getting trunks loud from termpro....and there are plenty of people that chime in who know what they're talking about, they give great suggestions, its really helpful... http://audioforum.termpro.com/ubb/ultimate...3/t/005684.html

i likes me some audio stuff...

i hit a 136 when the sub was firing into the car when i turned it firing back at the trunk lid i scored a 140.1 off the TL, i think it sounds better firing back instead of facing front.

I learned that trick from the home teator guys that if you have it faceing towards you you don't gain anything in a home enviroment.

the reason why the wall works as I said before is because it descresses the total cabin volume. completely sealing off teh truck in kinda of a trunk wall i guess you'd call it you its basically the same as a wall but your  not taking up as much room as a wall from the B pillar back. the subs facing rear  fills everything thing up. with it out sealed it wants to fill the rest of the trunk. i see the point of deeling everything in.. but honestly you can't produve AUDIO GAIN with teh speaker faceing you. thats my conclusion

ive metered many times....aiming forward while isolated from the trunk WILL gain you on the meter.  The reason you need to be completely sealed is because of cancellation and no other reason....not because the "bass fills everything up".  When you aim backwards there is no cancellation thats why it sounds good that way.  Aimed forward with air gaps will get major cancellation and usually is the worst way to do it.  When isolated the sound waves cant go backwards and cancel out on the way back.

IN A TRUNK CAR:

If you dont isolate, aim backwards it will sound great.

If you do aim forward and dont isolate it will sound like poop.

If you aim forward and completely isolate, it will sound GREAT and gain you on the meter, not to mention your taillights, trunk lid, and deck lid wont be vibrating so theres a plus and a half right there.

Thats my conclusion.  ;)
