Not saying they will fry from being modded but you do have to be careful not to short the speaker leads out whatsover.......and they arent cheap to repair so again the modded amps are AS IS.

Where you really need to watch thses amps once modded is if you blow a speaker...say goodnite to that Amp. You forgot to mention that the Thermal protection still works so its not like you have to worry about them getting hot and blowing cause my fins were plenty hot some days but the Amps kept working.

Diode 106 iirc. <_<B)

true true.......i overheated mine before when i had a pair in the civic. Thats what caused me to design that fan rack. Never had the problem again. It did shut off and make me shit bricks at a show one day. AFter it cooled it came back on and i was very relieved. Also, you are half and half right on the sub blowing thing. You have a 50/50 chance if a sub blows it might take the amp out. Depends on the type of damage. I have straight SLINKIED my MT 18's before and not blown the amp. Other times it did. I didnt blow that many subs but i did smoke a couple, mostly being my fault. You learn some lessons the hard way. A cleanly blown sub usually reads infinate ohms, so it would be fine. Also a broken tinsel usually wont blow the amp either. Just be smart, if you smell coil getting warm back it off a notch. If you do blow a sub shut that amp off as fast as you can.....

I highly recommend even double side taping a couple 4" fans to the top, directly to the heat sync. Wire them up to a relay so they are always on and the amp will never get more then room temprature even on the hottest day, halfway under a seat. I know this from first hand experience :D

skipped my question too... :) how many amps will it take to run one those 18's :)

an MT will easily handle 2 bd1500's.....but it can get warm if your gains arent perfect as well as other factors. If your box is too big it may cause power handling to go down some so you just have to make good judgement calls. Make sure your not clipping either.
