Which would be happier?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, which subs would run better with 2000 watts? XL or lvl 5? I've been reading that the lvl 5's can take pretty much all the power you can throw their way when done so in a respectable and safe manner...

A thread here says the XL outperforms the Level 5 until you're putting 6000w per sub, and then the Level 5 shines.

So, I'd say the XL.

Edit: Though, personally, if I was running 4k+ per sub, I'd still go with the Level 5 over the 4XL. Anything less and I'd do the 4XL.

I think your speaking on burping. I don't see a level 4xl taking that much daily, as I've owned one. A level 5 seems more suitable for a good daily and has room to grow and will take a beating a lil better. No need to over power subs on the daily. Just feed them what there designed to do and let them do there thing. Only overpower when you know what your doing with the design of the enclosure. Imo

I don't personally think giving a woofer 25% more power than rated is overpowering... I think its safe headroom so that you can feed it clean power and also account for slight voltage drop.

Good deal! I called and talked to Rusty about price quotes and threw in this question as well. He recommended the XL's as well. Awesome guy, great customer service, he's got my business for sure :clapping:
