I GOT A QUESTION?? im going to get 2 "18" dual 2ohm fi subs, should i run a separate amp for each voice coil? the reason i ask is ive seen a build on here and the subs looked wired so that each coil had its own amp. so should i wire them in parallel or series each coil has its own amp or what im confused =/ thnx

i didnt read it all but ill say there is nothing wrong with it in my book but it could be better to run one amp per sub or one massive amp over all due to the fact if your running four amps and one shitts on you then that sub that its connected to will only be doing one coil ya know ?

i would just run 1 amp and wire the coils together in series. if they're duel 2's i would do that for each sub

you make a good point, it would be the first time ive ever used such big subs and stronger amps and ive seen so many ways to configure a setup that i want. im just confused on the best way to do it and that it sounds good too.

if its your first time keep it simple run one amp per sub or one amp for both subs at .5ohm that way its just easyer on you and you aint got to worrie about extra wires and all

lol. but i haven't and i don't plan on it. plus i'd probably miss and hit her belly button or her ear or something. lol.

If you haven't boughten your amps yet then I recommend that you just buy a single amp to power both subs or one amp per sub.

You can run one amp per voice coil and this is a trick from back in the day so we could get an excesive amount of power to the sub because they didn't make amp as powerful back then. Companies now make very large amps and there is no real reason to run 2 amps to one subwoofer unless you are hung up on a company that doesn't make a large amp.

IMO only people that have alot of experience should run 2 amps to one subwoofer because there is alot of weekly to monthly maitnence (can't spell)that you may have to deal with. If the gains on the 2 coils become unmatched you might damage the subwoofer.

Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one.
