dnewell2004
Been having voltage problems lately. With just the 4 channel it is dropping to 11ish and with the subs it drops to 8ish. Not good. Tested the battery and the alternator. Checked the grounds. I do know that I bottomed out a few times and caused a tear in the 0G I have under the car. I just taped it up and didn't worry about. Now i'm convinced that it corroded and that is what is making my voltage drop. I don't have the cash right now to buy more wire and since the tear is in the middle I'll need alot. Can I cut like a 6"-1ft out and crimp ring connectors on the ends and bolt them together and tape it up real good for a temporary fix? The local shop doesn't have any 0G couplars in stock and I've never seen an 0G butt connector. Just a thought. Let me know. Thanks. Quote Them: "Why does my amp keep cutting out?" k3n12ock
You could try or be ghetto and use 2 fuse holders. Make sure to INSULATE THE F^&K out of it if you do something like that. Id just replace it, you don't need your car burning to the ground. Quote lower tuning is just hard. Cashdollar2009
I wouldn't think your power wire being stripped would cause such a voltage drop. You have a smaller current flow with the smaller strand count theoretically, therefore I feel that it would be safe to assume that would not be your problem. Basically, your severe voltage drop should not be caused by a damaged wire. Could be wrong but... What equipment are you running? What's your electrical? And no, 8 volts is not good. lol Quote 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier Two 12" DC Audio XL M2'sCrescendo Audio BC5500d Current Scores: 150+ out the Trunk On 6/30/2011 at 1:11 AM, 'Ray' said: Acoustical energy is free. dnewell2004
4channel is a d3 500.4 mono is a d3 1000.1. sub is a d6 15" dual 2. Like i said batt and alt test fine. All wiring is 0G. The voltage doesn't drop under the hood. Just at the back. So to me it has to be something in the middle. Quote Them: "Why does my amp keep cutting out?" Me: "What is your ohm load?" P4killer_
Shoot two fuse holders plus fuses of course would cost nearly as much as a new run of wire. Check out KnuKonceptz And for the time and effort it would take to rig something up and do it well to make sure it doesnt blow up- just buy a new run of wire and you will just have some extra wire maybe for the big 3 if you havnt done that already. skittlesRgood
if a stripped + wire was draining your battery it would be touching metal. if it was touching metal you would have a ton more problems... like a fire. if you have an inline fuse, check it. the only reason i see for that wire to cause such a drop would be if 50% of the wire was missing at the point of damage. go over all of you connections and see if any of them are loose, at the bolt or the ring terminal holding the wire. and HIDE THAT WIRE!! make sure that wire cant be damaged the same way again. tuck it behind something and ziptie it in place. that could have burned your car down!
